How to make Mock Cabbage Rolls

Hi Gardening Friends

Here is a great recipe for people who have allot of Cabbage and

a little time to make the old fashion Cabbage rolls. This recipe was one of my mother's Jean favorite recipes. I hope you are all willing to try this.

And after you did let me know if you love this recipe.

Mock Cabbage Rolls

1 small head coarsely chopped Cabbage

1/4 tsp. pepper

1 small onion chopped

1 egg

1 1/2 lb. ground Beef

1/2 tsp. Salt

1/2 cup Rice

1 Large can tomato juice or tomato sauce

1 Small can sauerkraut (opt.)

Mix meat, rice, onion, salt, pepper, egg and enough juice to moisten.

Arrange a layer of Cabbage and sauerkraut in bottom of Casserole then add a layer of meat mixture. Repeat with a layer of Cabbage and then meat. End with cabbage and kraut on top. Pour tomato juice over until layers are covered. Bake at 350* for about 2 1/2 hours or until Cabbage is done. (Start at 400* then turn to 350*). Layer it in with Saucerkraut.

I hope you enjoy this some what faster recipe of the old favorite stuff cabbage recipe.

Sincerely

Gardener Den

Just made this recipe, as i had 8 small cabbages from our vegie garden all ready at the same time, so this looked great, but was unsure from the recipe whether you combine the meat and ingredients raw, or do you brown off the mince, anyway i browned it off a bit, and used cooked rice, followed the rest of the recipe and my 4 huge cabbage lasagne's are amazing.

I also thru in some peas and carrots so the kids are getting their meat and 3 veg combo with each meal

thanks for this great recipe
